Gift of the Givers Foundation

Posted on 15 February 2021

South Africa, as of the end March 2020, joined several countries around the world, in implementing a National lockdown in an attempt to curb the spread of the corona virus.
In a country already battling with a high unemployment rate, and despite several attempts being implemented by the South African Government to assist the needy, it still means a lot more household are going to battle to make ends meet during this time.
Sime Darby Oils South Africa, a producer of edible Fats and Oils, heard the call by President Cyril Ramaphosa to the private sector and those able to do so, to assist in any way possible to help alleviate the plight of the most vulnerable communities.
It was in this spirit that Sime Darby Oils South Africa recently donated some of its Premium Sunflower Frying Oil, namely “Crispa Gold” to the Gift of The Givers Foundation, a nonprofit organization that distributes food parcels to underprivileged communities. Mr Badr Kazi of the Gift of the Givers Foundation expressed his appreciation for Sime Darby Oil’s generous contribution and committed to ensure the donation will be for the of the benefit of the communities in Ekurhuleni municipality from where the company’s operations are located.

What was your experience during the National lockdown?
