As the world´s largest producer of certified sustainable palm oil, Sime Darby Plantation plays a leading role in the development and promotion of sustainable practices in the palm oil sector. Being a founding member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), SDP seeks to advance the production, procurement and use of sustainable oil palm products.

This includes but is not limited to refining and production of oils and fats, oleochemicals, biodiesel, other palm oil derivatives and renewables as well as the sales and marketing of these products.

As Sime Darby Plantation is involved in the full spectrum of the palm oil value chain, we apply the RSPO Principles & Criteria to ensure that we adhere to environmental best practices, biodiversity conservation, and social protection in areas of our operations; from Upstream in our plantations all the way Downstream to our Speciality refineries.

Our operations at Sime Darby Oils in South Africa following on the example set by our parent company, we work closely with our business partners who are as committed to sustainability and social responsibility as we are.

Sime Darby Oils were the first in South Africa to be RSPO certified for both Mass Balance and Segregated supply chain models. We are also a member of both Sedex and EcoVadis, collaborative platforms for Sustainability and Ethical trading. This ensures that our entire supply chain is managed in a sustainable and ethical way covering the entire lifetime of our products (Farm to Fork/Cradle to Grave) as well as our Operations (Labour, Commercial, Legal, etc.).
